“The problem is not of solvency but workers inscription to the Social Security, and the obligation that the company has with the Labor Ministry and Insapsel, that can provoke labor dangers and the most prejudiced is bingo itself”, Meléndez, the director of Social Security, said.
He also commented that the only allegation that the people in charge of bingos have presented is that they have a high workers rotation. However, he said that “it is their obligation to follow the regular channels, because “then we face cases, such as we have detected in the operatives, of people that have the age to retire, but they don’t have the number of fees, because companies have a high rotation rate and they don’t register workers and when they reach the required age, they find that they can’t get their pension”.
“If there is no affiliation, there won’t be a real social security for workers and that is going to have a repercussion in the end in the assistance part”, he assured.
Meléndez said that in one of the inspected bingos they found that even though all the workers appeared to be in the IVSS, “the salaries were from five years ago, not even the minimum salary had been changed, which affects other aspects”.
