Brett Hyrjak is the new Bingo Caller of the Year. The final event of the competition took place on Monday at South East London’s Gala Bingo Club. Hyrjak faced other five regional winners in front of a panel of judges, which were renowned members of the bingo industry.

Hyrjak, who is 30 years old, works at the Bognor Regis’ Gala Bingo Club and had to answer a series of questions about the industry. Afterwards, he performed an entertainment act and called some numbers.

“I’m absolutely speechless,” Hyrjak said. “I’m still gobsmacked. I think it’s incredible to be named the best in your profession. For the next year, I’m going to be an ambassador for this great game. It's a fantastic feeling making people winners”. This is the second year the bingo caller makes it to the finals.

The new Bingo Caller of the Year won a prize of £500 and a trip to Las Vegas where he will have the opportunity to call the numbers at an American bingo parlor.
